The Physiology

The science
nobody told you.

Three principles. They explain why your hardest training sessions still leave you gassed at the wrong moment.

Concept 01
01

The Bohr Effect

CO2 is the key.

Oxygen doesn't just float into your muscles. CO2 is the key that unlocks hemoglobin and releases O2 where it's needed. Low CO2 = locked oxygen, no matter how hard you breathe.

Concept 02
02

Respiratory Metaboreflex

The heist.

When breathing muscles fatigue, your brain steals blood from your legs to keep your lungs moving. Your quads literally lose fuel so your diaphragm can keep working. We train to stop the heist.

Concept 03
03

Air Hunger

It's not oxygen.

That panicky chest feeling isn't a lack of oxygen — it's your nervous system over-reacting to CO2. Recalibrate the alarm and the ceiling moves up.

Key insight

"Athletes spend thousands on hardware — gear, shoes, VO2 tests — and ignore the software that actually runs the system."
